If staying at the top of one of the tallest buildings in the world is on your bucket list, then you’ll want to book a room at the new J Hotel Shanghai Tower. This luxury hotel opened its doors on June 19 and sits atop the Shanghai Tower, the tallest building in China and the second-tallest building in the world.
The new 165-room hotel gives you a birds-eye view of Shanghai from the top of the 632-meter building, with unprecedented views stretching from Hongqiao Airport in the west to the Yangtze River’s entrance into the East China Sea. The hotel is nestled among Shanghai Tower’s spiral, so every room has a unique view from the clouds.
The staterooms and suites are located from floors 86-98 and boast some of Shanghai’s most spacious accommodations, ranging from 657 square feet to 4,090 square feet. Every space in the hotel, from the lobby to the guest room corridors, offers unique luxury experiences influenced by art and culture, weaving modern elegance with authentic Chinese flair.
As guests walk to their rooms, they’ll notice doors of different colors that designate the two different styles of staterooms at J Hotel Shanghai Tower: New Chinese and Contemporary. The New Chinese staterooms are decorated to represent the region’s historic prosperity and elegance. From the leather-trimmed TV cabinet and emerald glazed tea table to the dragon patterns on the sofa and the Yangtze Delta’s ancient pavilions depicted in the bespoke embossed wallpaper, the interior is carefully crafted to embody traditional Chinese culture while also creating a rejuvenating environment.
Meanwhile, the contemporary staterooms offer a spacious and sophisticated sanctuary, with crystal magnolia lamps, a bedside canopy with touches of gold and silver, and Italian crystal glass TV cabinet showcase exquisite craftsmanship and elegant style. Guests can relax in the magnolia petal-shaped bathtub by the window, soaking up views of Huangpu River.
Of the hotel’s 165 rooms, there are 34 suites — 24 Grand Suites, eight J Suites, one Jinjiang suite and one Shanghai suite — each with distinctive design themes. The Grand Suites and J Suites offer spacious accommodations decorated with crystal chandeliers for a touch of glamour while rich wood grains and fine leathers bring natural tones to create a luxurious and comfortable stay.
The Jinjiang Suite offers unparalleled 180-degree views, with separate living room, bedroom, dressing room, dining room, study and washroom, and is connected to two other guest rooms to offer even more living space based on guests’ needs.
If you want to experience luxury living in the clouds, the Shanghai Suite is the most spacious and high-end suite at J Hotel Shanghai Tower. It offers a separate parlor, bedroom, dressing room, study, kitchen and physiotherapy area. To create a truly magnificent experience, the entrance of this suite features a luxurious Chinese phoenix and peony embroidery on the calfskin wall that leads to a curved parlor that boasts a panoramic view of Shanghai. Fine leathers, elegant furniture and one-of-a-kind artwork makes this suite an experience above all else.
In addition to luxury accommodations, each guest can enjoy exclusive services of a J Hotel personal butler that can curate services like ground transportation and sightseeing recommendations to secretarial assistance and restaurant reservations. The around-the-clock availability means it’s another way J Hotel is offering hospitality above and beyond.
Show-stopping service doesn’t stop there, as dinner with a view takes on a whole new meaning at J Hotel Shanghai Tower. There are seven different restaurants and bars to find palate-pleasing fare in the air, including Japanese, Chinese, Italian and Mediterranean cuisines. Enjoy imaginative cocktails and fine wines at Yi Lounge, as well as fresh brewed coffee and pastries at the cafe.
And no luxury hotel stay would be complete without a trip to the spa, and the Reiki Spa at the J Hotel Shanghai is a must-go for relaxation and rejuvenation. Melt away your stress and anxiety with services featuring holistic techniques and natural products, or work up a sweat at the fitness center that features a yoga room and sky-line swimming pool.
J Hotel Shanghai Tower is the inaugural property of J Hotels, a premiere luxury hotel brand of Jin Jiang International Hotels. While top-rated service and hospitality is nothing new to Jin Jiang International Hotels — China’s largest and the world’s second-largest hotel group — the new J Hotel Shanghai Tower definitely takes the luxury to new heights.
