Some people have preconceived notions about Utah, but even a quick trip to Salt Lake City will defy old stereotypes and make you fall in love with a new place. This is an ideal launching point to visit state and national parks with impressive rock formations and landscapes, go skiing at top-notch resorts, mountain bike on epic trails and learn about fascinating cultures and religions. It’s easy to get around town with public transportation and check out all the art events, restaurants, and breweries you have time for. The Kimpton in Salt Lake City prides itself on being dramatic, elegant, and comfortable. When you stay here, you’ll be close to all the downtown attractions and only 20 minutes from the nearest ski resort too. There are 225 rooms and suites here in a historic building and that have bold features and eccentric design touches. Guests receive a complimentary yoga mat in every room, complimentary coffee and tea service every morning in the lobby, and a wine reception from 5-6 pm. There’s a fitness center onsite, complimentary overnight shoeshine, and pets stay free. Bambara is the onsite restaurant that’s open for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner with New American fare by Executive Chef Nathan Powers. To get here from the airport via public transportation, hop on the TRAX light rail Green Line for $2.50, and get off at Gallivan Plaza.
With 75,000 square feet of meeting and event space and 775 guest rooms, this certainly is a grand hotel in Salt Lake City. Inside you’ll find floor-to-ceiling windows, spa-style bathrooms, a large fitness center, outdoor pool, and complimentary Wi-Fi. For a little extra luxury, book an executive suite with a step-out balcony, walk-in closet, and elegant French doors separating the bedroom and living area. Kitchen suites are also available with full-size refrigerators, stoves, washers, and dryers, and these are great options for extended stays. The Garden Café serves fresh meals, Sunday brunch here is a must, afternoon tea is provided, and you can listen to live jazz in the lobby lounge. Little America is a collection of hotels in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Arizona, and California. The one in Salt Lake City has the largest indoor/outdoor pool in town, a fitness center with sauna and whirlpool, retail shops, and two restaurants onsite called the Lucky H Bar & Grill and a coffee shop. The indoor/outdoor pool is open from 4am to 11pm and has poolside dining available. This is the sister property of the Grand America Hotel highlighted above and located right across the street. The Little America onsite restaurant specializes in comfort foods and all-day breakfast. It’s easy to plan your vacation if you stay here and use the concierge service because the concierge desk can assist with concert tickets, golf equipment rentals, skiing equipment rentals, spa appointments, and summer adventures like horseback riding and rafting.
It’s also easy and convenient to check out everything downtown when you stay at the Salt Lake Marriott Downtown at City Creek. City Creek is a premier shopping and dining district right next to the hotel, and the Salt Palace Convention Center is across the street as well. The Hilton Salt Lake City Center is another great place to stay for your next trip to Utah, with its 18 floors towering over Temple Street. This Hilton is in a central downtown location, so it’s easy to walk to the trendy restaurants, the TRAX train stations, Capitol building, and Eccles Theater. This is a family-friendly place to stay with an indoor pool, sundeck, and whirlpool. Families love this place because of the large family suites and easy access to the Hogle Zoo, Discovery Gateway, and Clark Planetarium. It’s also pet-friendly and has an off-leash dog park nearby. Trofi Restaurant serves breakfast, and Spencer’s is a great dinner spot for steak. Business travelers also enjoy staying here because there’s a 24,000-square-foot meeting space, audio/visual equipment rental, and onsite Avis car rental.
This Sheraton is another downtown Salt Lake City hotel that provides a welcoming and accommodating stay for travelers. For stress-free travel, take advantage of the hotel’s complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport. There are 362 guest rooms, including six suites here. The 5th Street Grill is the onsite signature restaurant, and there’s also a 24-hour fitness center and outdoor swimming pool here. Complimentary self-parking and Wi-Fi are also available. You’ll be about three minutes from the heart of downtown when you stay at this Radisson and about a half-mile walk to Temple Square.
