The Roxbury Experience is made-up of two breathtaking destinations within a two mile circumference. Tucked within the Catskill Mountains of upper New York, this is not only an escape from the big city, but an escape from reality. Just imagine lying in bed, peering upward toward Cinderella’s extravagant ballgown. And to the left, is an intricately carved pumpkin, which houses the elegant bathroom. The detail is stellar, and quite honestly, words won’t do it justice. Each cottage exterior is in a way modern, but obscurely intricate, in a Tim Burton fashion. Each is also crisp, quirky, yet subtle. Details within the forest themed cottage, that was inspired by the owner’s initial first walk to the property’s waterfall, are a realistic masterpiece. Feel as if you’re sleeping in an enchanted forest, when actually you are within luxurious accommodations. Another one of our favorites would have to be the superhero cottage, which features strong women characters of all shapes and sizes.
Little details round out a completely pampering experience, from the delicate yet beautiful breakfast plates, to a wide variation of boozy selections available in your room, if you are 21 that is. The motel features a glitzy spa with hot tub, dry sauna, and a large steam area made out of one hundred percent recycled green car windshield glass — access can be added on for $20 per person, per entire stay. The Crooked Cabana (literally and it’s so outlandishly beautiful) at Stratton Falls offers pool access, a dry sauna and hot tub. We are feeling relaxed just reading about all of these amenities.
This part of New York is a playground, for every type of interest. Hit the slopes in the winter, and experience the northern East Coast powder. Or maybe consider a serene horseback ride during the spring. The Catskills will likely make an outdoor lover out of you if you aren’t already, but there are more urban things to do as well, such as making rounds to various artisan distilleries. And if you like more in between stuff, enjoy golfing, zip lining or a scenic train.
