There are so many different options for riding a bike on a scenic path, and riders are guaranteed to see a vast variety of environments too. Here are some of the state’s most beautiful and serene outdoor spots to take your bicycle for a spin!
Saguaro National Park East, Tucson
For a quick 8 mile ride, this loop in the popular city of Tucson is hilly, paved, and embedded with all kinds of desert scenery. The Saguaro National Park East Loop is perfect for a Sunday afternoon ride with the whole family.
Mt. Lemmon, Tucson
The 30-mile ride up the Catalina Highway that goes to the top of Mt. Lemmon is a challenging one, but one of the most scenic in the state. Dress warm, as temperatures drastically drop the higher you go up!
Mingus Mountain Loop, Cottonwood
This 91.39-mile loop that starts in Cottonwood is sure to get your heart pumping. With varying levels of difficulty, this scenic pathway gives riders an amazing view of Verde Valley, especially during the autumn months with the trees changing.
Mt. Graham, Pima
Mt. Graham is one of the highest mountains in the state, which makes its 8,000-foot climb going from the desert terrain to forestry a memorable one. Be prepared for some challenging switchbacks, but the view is definitely worth it!
Tortilla Flats, Maricopa County
A fabulous ride through the Superstition Mountains with jaw-dropping scenery is what this trail offers bikers, and there are plenty of pit stops along the way. If you do the whole thing it totals just over 90 miles.
El Tour de Mesa Route
This path is one that’s used annually for the El Tour de Mesa race and takes bikers into the city of Scottsdale as well as along the Salt River. Passing by Saguaro Lake is just one of the scenic bonuses!
Arizona Canal Path, Phoenix
With 10 miles of cyclist-only pathways in Phoenix, this Arizona Canal route is one of the best places to go cruising. Not only is it the best way to see parts of the city, but one of the safest too!
McDowell Sonoran Conservancy
The Sunrise Trail at the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy offers riders challenging terrain and stunning desert views. If you happen to be here during the Tour de Scottsdale, you will have the opportunity to take part in a 70-mile biking event that circumnavigates the Conservancy.
