Livestream webcams have been set up on the aquarium’s website. Clever little otters playfully splash, smiley beluga whales bumble by the lense, and humongous sharks dominate the Ocean Voyager cam. You’ll see several different cameras to explore. For something mesmerizing and strangely peaceful, click on the whimsical jellyfish cam, where the seemingly fluorescent beings float through the deep blue tanks. But the African penguins put on one of the best shows, waddling around on the rocks or plunking into their surrounding pool.
Facebook videos at the Georgia Aquarium aren’t a new thing but are a fun way to zip back in time or to visually experience more recent happenings among the animals and staff. Videos feature majestic sea turtles, or updates on the pregnant whale, Whisper! There’s even an uplifting clip of puppies roaming from one exhibit to another. Fun facts about marine life often introduce each short clip. Did you know sea turtles don’t retract into their shells like those on land?
On each webcam page is the opportunity to learn some things one might have overlooked when traversing the overwhelming, yet awe-inspiring tanks at the aquarium. Scroll below the feed to discover more about the habitat and what makes it special. Even further down, the intrigued can click on the different species that reside in that habitat, to discover scientific names, diet and physical characteristics!
