One of the best places for a romantic getaway in the White Mountains is the Bernerhof Inn, with its newly decorated features and hands-on cooking classes. This is a great place to bond with your sweetheart over delicious food as you cook together and also for foodies looking for an immersive vacation experience. Otherwise, there’s a great spa for relaxing and plenty of opportunities for skiing, hiking, and rock climbing nearby. The Black Bear Pub serves delicious food onsite, as well as local microbrews and martinis. Complimentary breakfast is served in the dining room.
Inn at Pleasant Lake is located in a Cape Cod-style home that dates back to the 1790s and overlooks Pleasant Lake. It’s a waterfront retreat in a historic New England town with gourmet dining and convenient access to the beach and mountains. This New London destination has five guestrooms and five junior suites for guests to stay in, and every booking includes a country breakfast, afternoon, and various amenities. Specials are offered for date nights, midweek getaways for discounted rates, and golf vacations.
Inn at Ellis River is located in a carpenter’s house built in 1893 that’s next to a stream and close to a local ski area and golf club. A hearty breakfast is served each morning in the dining room, and the setting is quiet, relaxed, and cozy. You’ll be in the heart of the White Mountains when you stay here, so it’s a perfect destination for all seasons. An 18th-century farmhouse was restored to create the Sungar Hill Inn, a recommended place to stay in the town of Sugar Hill. The area is perfect for exploring original art and fine dining. This is another inn that doesn’t welcome children, so it’s ideal for a romantic couple’s getaway. In the winter, this is a great home base for skiing, tubing, and dog sledding. In the warmer months, it’s nice to photograph the wildflowers and fall foliage while staying here.
This is an 1896 historic Victorian inn that is in the Lakes Region and near the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Guests enjoy delicious breakfasts every morning in the elegant dining room, as well as complimentary afternoon refreshments, wine, and hors d’oeuvres. There are six bedrooms at the Glynn House Inn that include modern amenities and six suites, many of which have sitting rooms and double whirlpool baths. When you visit charming and historic Exeter, plan to stay at the Inn by the Bandstand. This is an 1809 Federal-style mansion that is just a couple blocks from the Phillips Exeter Academy and about eight miles from the seacoast. Inside the inn, you’ll find beautiful rooms filled with antiques and works of art. Some of the rooms have working fireplaces, and there are several packages to celebrate a special occasion. The Otis Restaurant is located at the inn and serves modern American food.
Anyone traveling to the Mount Washington Valley and looking for traditional New England hospitality should consider staying at the Cranmore Inn. Nearby, you’ll find the Conway Scenic Railroad and lots of village shops, restaurants, pubs, and golf in North Conway. There’s a year-round hot tub here and a seasonal outdoor pool. There are stylish guestrooms and two apartments to stay in here, all of which have private baths, air conditioning, and basic toiletries.
When you stay at the Ballard House Inn in Meredith, you’ll only be a few minutes from Lake Winnipesaukee, downtown Meredith, and the Gunstock Ski Area. The inn spans more than 10 acres of meadowlands and private forest area, and it’s right by the Waukewan Highlands hiking trail. Some breakfast favorites here include banana French toast, homemade granola, and Italian strata. Feza and Paula are the inn hosts and have extensive knowledge about the region. Squam Lake Inn is a 19th century farmhouse that’s charming and also in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region. Come here for small town charm and fewer crowds than the Winnipesaukee area. This is also an ideal place to visit if you enjoy artisan beverages, outdoor activities, and hiking trails. There’s a peaceful porch and beautiful gardens at the inn, as well as farm-inspired meals that are delicious and made-to-order. This family-owned and operated B&B has private guest rooms that are newly decorated, and breakfast favorites include orange cream French toast with breakfast sausage and four-grain blueberry pancakes with maple sugar bacon.
Chesterfield Inn is a comfortable and elegant B&B that offers stunning views of the Connecticut River Valley. This Southern New Hampshire favorite spot is near the Vermont border and a great place to let the stresses of life simply disappear. Inside, you’ll find four-poster beds with luxury linens, homemade breakfasts made to order, and a restaurant that serves dinner every night except for Sunday.
