Something about the North Georgia mountains is just enchanting. The smell of burning wood is constantly in the air, boiled peanuts stands are on the side of the road, and general stores full of old fashion candies reside in many towns. Not to mention, the rolling hills coated with a variety of trees that change color in the fall, or can be dusted with a tiny bit of snow in the winter—it’s just downright mesmerizing. Valhalla Resort Hotel sits near one of North Georgia‘s favorite towns, Helen. The Bavarian-themed nook is beloved for its authentic architecture, hiking trails, a central river that can be floated via a tube in the summer, along with deliciousness like the fudge and funnel cake shops. The resort hotel offers a classic, sleek environment to retreat to. Three restaurants, a pool, and unbeatable scenery will keep you here likely longer than expected.
Once a farmhouse in the 1800s, now a charming bed and breakfast with the coziest rooms. Snuggle in bed and gaze out a skylight to the Georgia night sky, or step out on the porch to be enveloped by mountains. Of course, the breakfast here is going to be amazing, being something you’ll never tire of. Fresh organic ingredients that have also been largely locally sourced will give you both an indulgent start to the day, along with a taste of the region. Days can be spent delving into the history of the area or sipping at a local winery.
Mountain Laurel Farm is also centered around an old farmhouse, from the early 1900s. Only a handful of rooms reside inside, so each one is quite detailed and has a subtle but interesting theme. The scenery surrounding the farm is breathtaking, and one should definitely see it in the fall at least once! Also near Helen, one could stay here during Oktoberfest, or during Christmas when the town is especially magical.
Vaulted ceilings and a towering stone fireplace are focal points of the ambient living room. A generously sized kitchen is the perfect place to prepare locally sourced meals. But our favorite part of this beautiful cabin is the massive porch complete with plenty of lounging spaces to take in the mountains. And let’s not forget that hot tub that is calling our names.
Floor to ceiling windows allows light to pour into the wood laden space. So much traditional mountain decor comes together in this dwelling, and it is so warm and relaxing. Have a glass of wine while soaking in the hot tub (because you are in wine country), or just enjoy the expansive porch while watching the sun set behind the mountains. The listing is divided into two cabins, one featuring a pool table, so it’s wonderful for families who like a little bit of privacy.
This cottage sets amongst others, which are all part of a magical vineyard experience. Located in Dahlonega, wine is becoming part of the culture here. This is a wonderful place to immerse yourself in the beloved beverage. But you don’t have to be a wine lover to fall in love with the scenery, and the modern and airy aesthetics of this brightly attributed abode.
We’ve shown you the luxurious, now we give you a property that’s funky and unique. Designed to have a bohemian gypsy feel, it’s hard not to be charmed by this colorful little cabin Airbnb in the woods. A separate bathhouse offers a bathing experience among trees while being well-equipped and cute. Warm yourself by the outdoor fireplace. Venture beyond to nearby Blue Ridge, or to the proximal horseback riding stable.
A dramatic roofline has allowed multiple windows to be situated along the back wall, offering unbeatable lake views. The Airbnb home almost looks like a cathedral from the distance, nestled amongst the fiery hued trees in the fall. Inside is a mesmerizing blend of woodsy and chic, and the bathrooms are straight out of a spa retreat.
The porch alone could be its own staycation retreat – it’s massive while featuring relaxing rocking chairs to take in all of Blue Ridge from. Inside is completely refined and polished while being draped in rich woods, giving it its classic Georgia mountain feel. The worst part about it all is the thought of ever having to leave! Well, it’s the only bad part of it all.
Most notably, this VRBO rental has the most lovely places for the family to dine. Opt for the indoor table surrounded by windows that peer toward the surroundings. Or breathe in that fresh air while enjoying a meal outdoors, at the table which can seat more than a handful of people. A major perk is the generous dock space available to guests. Four boats have plenty of room to dock, or you can just use this as your private recreation space by the water.
This VRBO cabin nails all of the items on the checklist when visiting North Georgia. It’s woodsy, with lots of raw materials being used in its construction. There’s a fire pit for nights of roasting s’mores and drinking wine. And it’s proximal to the Toccoa River, which offers its own list of recreational opportunities. While feeling quite secluded, iconic restaurants and other activities are near.
