Idaho is full of top-notch ski areas that meet all the expectations of a day among the snow. Tubing, mountain coasters, lifts and great places to eat are the staples to expect at this amazing destination in the Northwest. However, folks can find refuge away from the crowds while venturing to backcountry terrain. So as a whole, Idaho is an amazing state to choose for a ski-in, ski-out vacation. A yurt is basically a huge tent with a strong wooden frame and deck. It’s a super cozy option that keeps skiers close to nature and in a serene environment. Just outside awaits backcountry skiing that will make for countless memories. Nearby is the town of McCall, where travelers can find great pancakes and fun festivities.
This cabin remains rustic, while also having an abundance of polished features. You will still feel like you are tucked away within the nature of the state, but still like you’re also on a vacation. Sitting right beside a rushing river, fishing is a multi-season activity. Strap on your cross country skis and head straight out the door for some stunning terrain. Downhill skiing is a short drive away.
We will kick things off with an ultra-affordable suite that can sleep an entire family! Located in Tetonia, guests will be on the cusps Grand Targhee Ski Resort, which isn’t terribly far from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The space presents warmly and is a perfect home base for a winter escape. Several rivers also offer incredible fishing opportunities.
How cozy is this tiny loft house at the top of the mountains? Nestled amongst a farm, the little dwelling peers downward to Coeur d’Alene Idaho. Inside is so snug and ambient and is an appropriate place to warm up after a day in the snow. If looking for a little more civilization, just head to the below areas for lake recreation and good food.
Up to eight guests can cuddle up at this cabin near Teton Pass, where you’ll find some pretty sweet backcountry skiing right outside your door. However, official ski resorts are close by for those who prefer more groomed slopes. The town of Victor is small but quaint, offering delicious places to eat, and amazing huckleberry milkshakes at the Victor Emporium.
This traditional cabin has all of those heartwarming vibes with its log construction and wood-burning stove. Picture windows bring the glory of the surrounding pastures indoors. And it all is particularly majestic when snow is blanketing the valley. The Grand Teton mountain range is at your fingertips, whether snowshoeing, skiing or hiking.
Island Park is the winter haven in Idaho. It sits just over the border from Wyoming. Yellowstone National Park is also not far away. When the winter rolls through, loads of snow pile up outside this unusually shaped cabin with a massive stone fireplace. Inside, the aesthetic is “traditional cabin”, and has cozy bedrooms along with rustic bunk beds. Get ready for skiing, and also amazing snowmobiling trails.
This cabin is picture-perfect, with its classic exterior and high-end touches. This theme continues from the inside out. Located within Tamarack Resort, a wealth of chilly excursions are right amongst you. This particular cabin has its own private hot tub, but the resort itself offers a long list of extra amenities.
The inside of this apartment is basic enough, but still feels warm and welcoming with a clean-cut design and a fireplace. But the show-stopping element would be the views just outside the window. Schweitzer Mountain Resort is unique because of the mountains back against a stunning lake. So you get so much dimension and gorgeousness when gliding through the powder at this location.
Ketchum, Idaho is the precious town with artisan eateries that sits just outside of the famed Sun Valley Ski Resort. This condo is right near a lift, so is quite literally ski-in/ski-out. We love the thoughtful layout of the interior which allows for a large family to stay. And the living room features skylights for a cool spin and optimal stargazing.
This is a townhouse that has cabin aesthetics and a sprinkle of traditional home atmosphere. Guests can literally zip down the hill to one of Tamarack’s lifts! And when you are not lounging on the deck or kicking up powder in the hills, you can relax in the onsite hot tub. Perfect for families, there’s sleeping space for six.
If modern trendy was more of what you hoped for, this might be the place! Red cabinets in the kitchen, an open loft and lots of light define the condo. Located in Sun Valley, cross country skiing, fishing and scenic gondola rides are amongst the other things to do besides downhill treading.
There are three units within the rustic abode that actually sit atop Schweitzer Mountain. This particular unit can sleep up to ten people in its ultra homey surroundings. Many amenities reside on the property for all who rent one of the beautiful spaces, such as ping pong and a hot tub. The village is a skip away and has a list of things to experience as well.
