With so many countries re-opening to foreign visitors in 2022 following the COVID-19 shutdowns, it was a very busy year for travel, and that surge is expected to continue in 2023. Thankfully, new hotels are popping up across the globe in order to meet the high demand. While there will be hundreds of ribbon-cutting ceremonies taking place, there are some hotels that we’re especially excited about, including these highly anticipated properties from America’s red rock country to exotic Morocco.
Set along rue Cadet, named after famed gardeners Jacques and Jean Cadet, Hotel La Fantaisie will open in the spring. Inspired by local history, it will reimagine the story of the master gardeners, complete with a chic plant-filled courtyard and dream-like interiors. It will be one of the only five-star hotels with a full garden and rooftop bar right in the heart of Paris and will also feature a spa that’s garden-inspired with pools and a sauna. Three-star Michelin chef Dominique Crenn will oversee the culinary program while the serene guest rooms will include flat-screen satellite TVs with movies available for purchase, minibars, espresso makers and luxe beds with pillow-top mattresses and down duvets.
Part of the Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand, Numu Boutique Hotel will open on January 23 with 44 rooms in the Centro area of trendy San Miguel de Allende. The first Hyatt property to oepn here, it will have a rooftop pool and sundeck, a full-service spa and some fabulous dining options. Guests will be able to enjoy magnificent views over the city along with fine dining featuring Mexican coastal cuisine and a farm-to-table eatery focused on healthy Mexican fare using high-quality organic ingredients. Look forward to rooms inspired by Mexican roots combined with cosmopolitan sophistication, all of which have private terraces or balconies overlooking the interior garden or the city’s cobbled streets.
Located just steps from the bustling NoMa district within walking distance of many museums, monuments, and the metro, with Union Market just five minutes away on foot, The Morrow just opened and has already been receiving rave reviews. It offers a year-round rooftop lounge with fabulous views of the Capitol and other key sights along with highlights like the Le Clou restaurant helmed by Michelin-starred chef Nicholas Stefanelli featuring inventive French cuisine with chandeliers and a wrap-around marble bar. House-made kombucha and fresh juices in the morning and champagne and cocktails in the evening can be enjoyed right from the lobby beverage cart. There’s a well-equipped fitness center too, while rooms and suites feature luxurious details like beds with Italian linens and Le Labo bath and body products.
The Restoration Asheville is scheduled to open for booking on March 1, with the luxurious all-suite hotel located right in the heart of downtown, inspired by the city’s creative community and free-spirited culture. It will host a number of dining and drinking options, including The Exchange, an Appalachian, a farm-to-table eatery, and The Observatory, a rooftop bar offering botanical cocktails and unobstructed views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Rooms are spacious with features like high-speed Wi-Fi, Smart TVs, coffeemakers with house blend coffee, robes and slippers, and in-room spa services.
Amrit Ocean Resort & Residences spans more than seven beachfront acres along the Atlantic on picturesque Singer Island. Guests will enjoy a variety of watersports, a landscaped pool with cabanas, daybeds and ocean views from atop the third level, a wide range of indoor and outdoor fitness offerings and a 100,000-square-foot spa set across four floors. It will include a hydrothermal water therapy circuit, a float tank, sound and light therapies, acupuncture, indoor/outdoor treatment rooms and more. A plant-centric restaurant and an ocean-view learning kitchen will also be featured, while the various rooms and suites all boast ocean views and many luxe amenities.
Recently opening its doors in a prime downtown Charleston location, The Pinch is a luxury boutique hotel housed in two Victorian-era structures dating back to the mid-1800s. It offers modern comforts with historic character and lavish rooms and suites plus three residences for extended stays. All come with home-like amenities, including full kitchens and washer/dryers. On-site dining includes a turn-of-the-century oyster house and bar serving fresh seafood and craft cocktails along with a destination restaurant offering a seasonal menu “rooted in French techniques and southern traditions.” Another cozy bar features a wood-burning fireplace and the most extensive whiskey list in the city.
Future Found Sanctuary by Time & Tide is nestled on the slopes of Table Mountain, providing a secluded sanctuary with private villas enveloped by gardens showcasing some of the most breathtaking views in Cape Town. It borders Table Mountain National Park and has a strong focus on wellness with meals featuring vegetables from the property’s organic garden, sensory spa treatments, activities like waterfall walks, and gorgeous heated pools.
Park Hyatt Marrakech - Marrakech, Morocco
Opening in April 2023, Park Hyatt Marrakech boasts a prime location with spectacular views of the Atlas Mountains and will offer gourmet dining venues, swimming pools, a spa, and a kids’ club. It will also include a Moroccan garden-inspired 18-hole golf course. Spacious guestrooms include nearly 100 feet of outdoor space with elegant furnished terraces – the Duplex Suite comes with over 3,860 square feet and includes a terrace with a private pool and an en-suite hammam, along with Atlas Mountain views.
Bluebird Lake Placid is a new addition to the Bluebird by Lark brand, located just steps from Mirror Lake to provide a tranquil lakeside retreat with rooms designed to maximize relaxation, inspired by Scandinavian and Japanese design. Reflecting the stunning mountain surroundings, they include natural materials, clean lines, muted colors and curated furnishings inspired by year-round alpine activities. Standard amenities include free high-speed Wi-Fi, plush beds, microwaves and minifridges. Some rooms have bunk beds with plenty of space for a family. An on-site bar and tasting room features a cozy fireplace blending classic New York ski culture with 80s nostalgia while serving light bites like warm Bavarian pretzels, charcuterie and cheese that can be enjoyed with an IPA or bourbon.
A gorgeous hotel nestled in a UNESCO-listed waterfront enclave combines local culture with unparalleled French hospitality, located just steps from the Teatro Nacional. Full-service dining, dipping pools and a series of immersive activities and excursions from stargazing to hiking will be available along with extensive wellness programming.
The first Six Senses in Italy will open in March at Piazza di San Marcello, just blocks from the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain. Providing an urban wellness retreat, it continues the ancient Roman tradition of communal bathing with a spa that features a thermal bathing circuit that has a caldarium, tepidarium and frigidarium designed to aid muscle recovery and reduce inflammation. A hammam, sauna, solarium, meditation rooms, nail salon, outdoor yoga deck and a fitness center will all be available too. Guests will also enjoy a stylish rooftop terrace and two on-site eateries, while the elegant rooms feature amenities like minibars and gourmet snack corners, in-room coffee and tea, Smart TVs, high-speed Wi-Fi and yoga mats.
Ambiente Sedona - Sedona, Arizona
Taking reservations starting in February 2023, Ambiente Sedona will be North America’s first landscape hotel, celebrating the area’s spectacular landscapes and energy vortexes believed to aid in healing. Located on the border of the Coconino National Forest, just minutes from downtown Sedona, it comes complete with a natural waterway running through red rock formations and pinion pine trees. Exclusive on-site access to the over 300 miles of hiking and biking trails that are part of the Adobe Jack Trail system is included and excursions like horseback riding, hot-air balloon rides and rock climbing can be arranged. All-terrain e-bikes are available for a quick ride to town. The individual rooms or “atriums” feature floor-to-ceiling windows for breathtaking views, deep soaking tubs and private roof decks with fire pits.
Opening just in time for peak ski season in January, the A-Frame Club sits at the base of Winter Park offering accommodation in A-frame cabins integrated into the natural environment while blending modern amenities with ski nostalgia. Think Malm free-standing fireplaces, cedar and birch wood throughout, fully equipped kitchens and heavenly Onsen-style soaking tubs. In the “Saloon” guests can enjoy a fantastic French-alpine apres-ski experience that includes hot cocktail options, beers on tap from Colorado breweries, and an expansive European wine selection along with comfort food from a wood-fired French-inspired menu.
