Long gone are the days when just a hotel room would suffice for a honeymoon, anniversary, or a relaxing get away from a stressful job. Today, there are Airbnbs, bed-and-breakfasts, and stays that are far more than just a place to lay your head at night, but an experience. Local food, including on site gardens where you can often pick produce yourself, locally roasted coffee, and chef quality meals have become part of many individual rental stays. Bolt Farm Treehouse is a phenomenal example of this vacation evolution. Guests will be whisked into a fairytale treehouse, which is drenched in fine decor, while still maintaining a rustic feel.

What makes it even more exciting? Bolt Farm Treehouse was featured in Netflix’s “World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals.”

Whimsical and romantic treehouse bedroom

Bolt Farm Treehouse began in Walhalla, South Carolina, where the very first structure was built for the honeymoon of the soon to be founders. The experience was in fact so magical, that it prompted the owners to turn it into an experience for others to enjoy. Today, the structure has been praised by big names such as Architectural Digest, Southern Living, The Knot, and BuzzFeed. Impressive and deserved! The majestic treehouse is listed on Airbnb, and has been noted to be the number one Airbnb in all of South Carolina. Originally setting the flow for all of the Bolt Farm structures, the treehouse is both whimsical and luxurious. Meander over wooden walkways, swing on outdoor beds that are ambiently lit by café lights, and indulge in organic produce that varies based on the season. Sometimes, you’ll get a taste of southern muscadines from the “tiny vineyard”. Guests will also be treated to locally roasted coffee, which is served in vintage china.

Patio and hot tub at dome

Four more incredible treehouses have been developed along tidal land in striking Charleston, South Carolina. Guests can book month long stays, as these are more intended for an extended vacation. Each of the houses reflect the original chic yet humble aesthetic, while still being incredibly luxurious. Soak in stone outdoor tubs, sip on champagne, explore multiple levels of treehouse beauty, and feel totally pampered while still feeling generally connected with the salty sea air, southern terrain and foliage. Downtown Charleston, which is rich with high-end shopping, and incredible southern eateries with awesome shrimp and grits, is just 30 minutes away. A month sounds like a long time to book, but in digs like this, it’s sure to fly by.

Dome bedroom with incredible view

Chattanooga houses Bolt Farm Treehouse’s beloved and otherworldly domes, and more extravagant treehouses. The treehouses are equally as elegant and majestic as the ones in South Carolina, and the geodesic domes add an incredibly jaw-dropping wow factor to the rental options. Domes feature geometrically interesting windows and shapes, while having all the luxurious amenities. One of our absolute favorite amenities might be the pizza oven! Soak into this mountain top destination, which is far different from the beach environment, in a good way! Sometimes versatility is truly the ticket, and you might find yourself going to Charleston on one vacation, then falling in love and retreating to Chattanooga on the next.
