Top 8 Hotels in San Jose Del Cabo

Many people thinking about going to Cabo just envision it as one city at the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, but Los Cabos actually refers to two cities: San Jose Del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. Both popular locations are located within the Los Cabos Municipality, separated by an 18-mile corridor. While San Jose Del Cabo is farther from the area’s attractions, it also offers more of an authentic experience for visitors. It tends to be more tranquil, while Cabo San Lucas is known for its lively party scene. If San Jose Del Cabo sounds like your kind of escape, these are some of the best hotels to enjoy it from.

Secrets Puerto Los Cabos

This over-the-top adults-only, all-inclusive property is only a few years old, set just outside San Jose del Cabo and is truly a destination resort, which means there’s really no reason to leave unless you want to go out and explore.  The sprawling, beautifully-manicured grounds provide fantastic views of the Sea of Cortez, including from its two gorgeous pools and golf course. It’s all about luxury here, with the all-inclusive rates including access to eight restaurants, serving everything from traditional Mexican dishes to gourmet Italian fare and six bars, for lots of variety when it comes to food and drink. You can head to the Secrets Spa by Pevonia for an aromatherapy salt glow treatment or seaweed wrap, or relax on nearby Puerto Los Cabos beach. There are 500 suites, book the swim-out suites if you’re looking to go all out.

Cabo Azul

Cabo Azul Resort is an all-villa oceanfront resort that offers a tranquil departure from Cabo’s party scene, requiring a bus, taxi or car rental to reach either Cabo San Lucas or San Jose Del Cabo, but it enjoys a wonderfully laid-back, welcoming atmosphere and dramatically scenic surroundings. You’ll find plenty to do without leaving at all, including swimming in the three-level infinity pool and snorkeling among the tropical fish. Golfers can tee off at one of two courses nearby, Palmilla Golf Club or Cabo Real.  The resort’s PAZ Body & Mind Spa is an ideal place to head to soothe muscles and get relaxed before dining at the on-site Javier’s Restaurant & Bar and Flor de Noche. Suites and villas all come with a private patio terrace, with the ocean view rooms definitely worth the splurge.

Hyatt Ziva

Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos is one of the best higher-end all-inclusive hotels for families, couples and all types of travelers. It sits on a pristine stretch of sand along the azure waters of the Sea of Cortez, ideal for relaxing or enjoying activities like beach yoga, diving and deep-sea fishing. While it’s a little too rough for swimming, you can always take a dip in one of the four hotel pools.  There are seven restaurants to choose from when it’s time to dine, and a variety of evening entertainment is offered too, including live music and Cirque-du-Soleil-style shows.

Marquis Los Cabos

The adults-only Marquis Los Cabos All-Inclusive Resort & Spa is especially luxurious and convenient to both Cabo San Lucas and the airport. The beach is fabulous for enjoying sunsets, although too rough for swimming, but the hotel offers two infinity pools as well as an activity pool to enjoy lots of splashing around and soaking up the sunshine. There are practically an endless array of all-inclusive dining options throughout the property as well as an elegant bar and 24-hour room service. All rooms are extra-spacious and come with ocean view balconies as well as upscale touches like L’Occitane bath products. Some suites even include their own private pool.

Paradisus Los Cabos

This beachfront all-inclusive resort is popular with couples and families and is one of the few properties in the area that includes a swimmable beach. While it sits in a fairly remote location, limiting access to outside dining options, it features over a dozen restaurants onsite, including Basque fine-dining headed by Michelin-star chef Martin Berasategu as well as 24-hour room service. Guests can also enjoy relaxing around the huge pool with lots of cabanas and seating to go around. Stylish rooms stretch towards the Sea of Cortez on two sides – with one reserved for families and the other adults-only. The latter is closest to the beach and has its own swimming pool and restaurant, with some suites offering swim-up pool access.

Alegranza Luxury Resort

The Alegranza Luxury Resort is a boutique hotel that offers an excellent value and a change from the typical mega-resort. An exclusive community of condos, each offers a patio and kitchenette, ideal for families who want to be able to stretch out. It’s also located within walking distance to the beach and Cabo’s historic downtown with lots of restaurants and shops selling local artisan crafts, jewelry and fashion boutiques. The lovely grounds host three large, uncrowded pools, fire pit areas and putting greens.

Royal Solaris

The Royal Solaris is a mid-range all-inclusive property that’s popular with families. It has almost an amusement park kind of feel with practically an endless number of sports activities and entertainment options, including four major dinner shows each week in the onsite theater, and themed nights like a Latin show and casino night. The Kids’ Club offers dancing lessons, water slides and kites. While it sits on a gorgeous beach, it’s generally not swimmable but there are four swimming pools to enjoy along with four restaurant options. Rooms include private balconies and mini-fridges stocked with free beer and water.

Barcelo Grand Faro

The Barcelo Grand Faro is known for its affordability and sits across a vast stretch of golden sands framed by the turquoise Sea of Cortez, though the strong currents mean that it isn’t swimmable. The three sections of rooms wrap around three pools, one of which has a swim up bar, and all face the beach. Rooms include free daily-restocked minibars as well as private balconies that sit above the pool complex overlooking the sea. There are five restaurants, two buffet-style and three a la carte options as well as adults-only sushi available in the Sky Bar, which provides spectacular panoramic views of the water and the golf course.  Various nightly entertainment is offered as well, like Mexican theme nights with art, music and food.
