July 2021 is when the Hotel Xcaret Arte is anticipated to open with 900 suites, and, like its sister property Hotel Xcaret Mexico, it will provide guests with unlimited access to Grupo Xcaret’s seven eco-adventure parks. It reflects the history of the Mayan culture and will host seven restaurants focused on everything from pre-Colombian dishes and regional Mexican recipes to contemporary vegan. Other highlights include a speakeasy bar with live jazz, multiple pools, a lavish spa, and a number of immersive cultural experiences like weaving lessons, pottery instruction, and cooking workshops specializing in vegan cuisine.
The Fives Hotels opened in July of 2020 as a hotel-residence concept in Puerto Morelos between the Riviera Maya resorts of Cancun and Playa del Carmen. It boasts a modern Mexican design with large one- to three-bedroom suites and a private beach club with pristine white sands, cabanas and sun loungers that sit alongside the turquoise waters of the Caribbean. Situated in Costa Mujeres just north of Cancun’s Hotel Zone, Planet Hollywood Beach Resort Cancun opened on January 29, 2021, with nearly 900 luxurious suites. “Vacation like a star” with Hollywood memorabilia from 40 cult classics while enjoying stunning beachfront. Among the wide range of facilities are over a dozen dining options, 11 bars, four pools, a lazy river, Jurassic Splash Park, and a trampoline park. There’s also a curated list of excursions, a lavish spa, a fitness center, and a kids’ club with imaginative and immersive programs.
Opened in February 2021, Sensiria is an all-inclusive oceanfront resort located along the Riveria Maya coast. It offers guests multiple restaurants and bars, three swimming pools, yoga and Pilates classes, two kids’ clubs, and an endless array of other activities for all ages. Kids and teens have their own special areas separated by age group, there’s an Aquapark with fountains and water chutes, 18 holes of mini-golf, and a tennis court. For those seeking a tranquil, more exclusive experience it includes adult-only accommodations with butler service and specially tailored amenities.
Opening this summer, Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya will offer one of the region’s largest water attractions and a secluded white sandy beach along the Caribbean Sea. Combining luxuries with whimsical fun, every suite will boast ocean views and a private swim-up. For those looking for the very best, book one of the four huge Nickelodeon-themed signature Penthouses that sit on the top floors of two modern six-story buildings. Club Nick is sure to keep the kids happy as a hangout just for them, including dance parties, an immersive theater experience, Slime! and more. There will be character experiences, a lazy river, multiple slides, and an interactive water playground too.
Located in the enchanting town of Bacalar that overlooks Laguna Bacalar near the border of Belize, Habitas combines luxury hospitality with sustainability and environmental preservation at the core of its operations. Guests enjoy a focus on wellness and restoration, with a fabulous spa, authentic wellness treatments like temazcal ceremonies, yoga, floating meditation, and free diving. A luxurious and intimate boutique hotel, Casa Teka offers a secluded retreat that neighbors two cenotes. It’s just steps from Tulum beach and showcases magnificent jungle views in a tranquil setting ideal for relaxing and recharging. SLS Cancun is a boutique hotel that opened earlier this year in the Puerto Cancun development, which is home to a marina, an 18-hole golf course, more than 100 stores, and boutiques, and 16 cinemas, centered around a private club. It sits along the Caribbean with 800 feet of prime beachfront and boasts a fabulous spa offering massages, anti-aging facials, and endermologie, with indoor and outdoor treatment rooms. The signature restaurant, Leynia, serves mouthwatering Argentian fusion fare, and you’ll find an elegant cocktail bar, a gorgeous pool, and a state-of-the-art fitness center. Rooms and suites include stunning ocean view options with high-end amenities like Smart TVs and minibars.
Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai is expected to open in the winter of 2021 in the luxurious Kanai development on a pristine stretch of beachfront, just six miles from Playa del Carmen. It will include 180 rooms and suites, six dining and drinking venues, including a signature restaurant, a pool bar and a beach club. Guests can look forward to decadent treatments at the destination spa along with opportunities to explore the region’s beautiful lagoons and mangroves, fascinating ancient Mayan cities, and ecological reserves.
Dreams Vista, located in the exclusive gated Puerta del Mar community, opened in the summer of 2020. Ideal for couples and families alike, it’s all-inclusive with separate programs for kids and teens and just about every amenity you can imagine and then some. It hosts 416 rooms and suites, nearly half of which are family suites that sleep up to five adults and three kids – some even come with their own private plunge pools. There’s a dedicated beach area with butler service and three pools, two of which are surf pools with the other on the rooftop. Dining and drinking can be enjoyed at eight restaurants and seven bars, there are wine and tequila tastings, Spanish lessons, beach parties, themed nights and live entertainment. Just a few of the other highlights include a water sports facility with gear rentals, fitness classes, a climbing wall, and even an outdoor theater.
Of course, as the name belies, this is a golf and spa resort, so you’ll also have access to an 18-hole course and a spa with ocean views that provides massages, facials, body scrubs, reflexology, manicures and pedicures.
Margaritaville delivers a laid-back Margaritaville kind of vibe with plenty of upscale perks. Opened in 2020, it’s the first all-inclusive Margaritaville resort and includes 148 rooms and suites set among a stunning tropical paradise with swim-up options available. There are 10 dining and drinking venues, including the Caribbean-inspired Beach House located at the beachside, opportunities for beachfront yoga, snorkeling, diving, and standup paddleboarding. Dance lessons, cooking, and cocktail classes are offered too. Plus there’s a huge spa for indulgent tropical-style treatments, hydrotherapy, and beauty salon services.
Located in the small Mayan community of San Manuel in the heart of the Yucatan Peninsula just 80 minutes from Cancun International Airport, Awakening is coming soon, providing a fabulous glamping experience. It’s made up of serene open-air pods that allow guests to be immersed in nature, enjoying the sounds of the jungle and a peaceful night’s sleep from beautiful beds that hang from fabric-covered ceilings providing barefoot luxury in a cocoon-like stay along the Riviera Maya.
