Within just a few hours of Seattle, you can visit the incredible Olympic National Park and see everything from mountains to rainforests and beaches. This is a nature lover’s paradise with plenty of opportunities for adventure, exploration, and photography to document your experiences.

Also, there are numerous campgrounds right within the park, as well as RV parks in the vicinity that offer lots of amenities. Here’s a sampling of the best places for camping near Olympic National Park for your next outdoorsy trip in Washington.

Hoh Campground

Among the various campgrounds located within Olympic National Park is the Hoh Campground, which is surrounded by ancient trees in a temperate rainforest. This year-around campground has around 72 total sites that cost $24 per night. There are several sites for RVs up to 21 feet and also a few for RVs up to 35 feet long. This campground offers flush toilets and potable water, and you can make reservations online in advance for the peak summer season. This part of the park gets up to 12 feet of annual precipitation and experiences mild winters and cool summers.

Fairholme Campground

A popular campground inside Olympic National Park is the Fairholme Campground, which takes online reservations in advance during the summer months. This campground has 88 total sites that cost $24 per night. There are sites here for RVs up to 21 feet, as well as flush toilets and potable water. The Fairholme Campground is in the Lake Crescent area of the park, which is a great place to start day hikes. Some popular hikes around Lake Crescent are the Marymere Falls, Moments in Time, Spruce Railroad, and Pyramid Peak trails.

Sol Duc Hot Springs RV & Campground

The Sol Duc Hot Springs RV & Campground is in the national park and is open between late March and late October. You’ll be on the edge of the backcountry and have access to both hot spring pools and hiking trails here. There’s a lodge with a front desk, restaurant, gift shop, and access to three mineral spring pools and a swimming pool. For RVs, there are 17 sites that accommodate campers between 26 and 36 feet long. This RV area is a quarter-mile from the main lodge. There are two camping loops and a walk-in site area that has 81 campsites in an old-growth forest. Dogs are allowed in the campground and in the national forest trails but not on the national park trails.

Log Cabin RV & Campground

A popular camping option inside the park is the Log Cabin RV & Campground, which operates between the end of May and the end of September. The campground has full hookup RV sites, bike-in tent sites, ADA tent sites, and group tent camping. The RV sites have full hookups with electricity and sewer, while the tent sites have fine-grade gravel tent pads. Amenities at this campground include boat rentals, a restaurant, deli, laundry machines, and a general store.

Meanwhile, Crescent Beach offers a seafront camping experience and private beach access in the Olympic Peninsula. The campground has full hookup RV sites with panoramic views of the Olympic Mountains. It also has tent sites near Olympic National Park and cabins that offer luxury amenities. You’ll enjoy having your own private beach here and the quiet and peaceful vibe of the area. It’s fun to take a drive into the national park from this campground and perhaps even book a guided tour so you can learn about as much of the park as possible. Just 10 minutes from Port Angeles, you can stay at the Elwha Dam RV Park, which is a great base camp for exploring the Olympic Peninsula. It’s just off Highway 112 and by the Elwha River Canyon and the former Elwha Dam site. This campground is open year-round and has 51 full hookup sites, 2.5 acres for tent camping, a cabin, and a guest house. The RV park has numerous amenities, including laundry facilities, an outdoor cabana, a community center, a small playground, a store, and pet sitting.

Falls Creek Campground, Quinault

The Falls Creek Campground offers campsites near the shore of a glacially carved lake and is surrounded by old-growth trees of the rainforest. There are 31 campsites here for tents, trailers, and RVs up to 16 feet long. However, the campground does not have hookups for RVs. Some sites have lake views, while others are in wooded areas. You’ll find potable water, a flush toilet, and day-use picnic sites at this campground. The forest area has 10 miles of hiking trails and many waterfalls that you can access on foot right from the campground. You can also stop by the Lake Quinault Lodge and Rainforest Resort for restaurants and gift shops nearby.

There’s a KOA campground in the Olympic National Park area known as the Olympic Peninsula/Port Angeles KOA Journey. This campground offers pull-through RV sites, premium tent sites, a pool, and weekend activities. The pool is typically open between the end of May and mid-September. Other features of this campground are the dog park, Wi-Fi, and bike rentals available for an extra fee.

The Forks 101 RV Park has 33 full hookup RV sites and is within the city limits of Forks, Washington. It is across Highway 101 from Forks Outfitters and Pacific Pizza, and it’s a nice basecamp for exploring Olympic National Park too. The campground offers restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, and a family fun zone. There are picnic tables and fire pits at every site, while other perks are Wi-Fi, a retail store, outdoor games, and books and DVDs available. Daily, weekly, and monthly rates are offered here.
