If you’re planning to visit the “Happiest Place on Earth”, you’ll find that there are so many hotels in the Anaheim area to choose from, making your decision rather challenging. This list offers something for just about everyone, whether you’re looking to complement your trip with a luxury stay at a Disney property, or a comfortable, affordable option near the park.
Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa
The Disney properties are particularly enchanting, but there’s arguably no better than the Grand Californian. Kids are sure to be spellbound by the myriad of Disney amenities, and rooms with details like Disney-themed murals above the headboards and sleeper beds that open up to woodland creatures from Bambi. Everyone in the family will appreciate the private entrance to certain areas of Disneyland, like the Downtown Disney District and the California Adventure Park, as the only property of the three that are right on site. The design of the hotel is impressive too, drawing on the state’s natural scenery from the breathtaking rugged coast and redwood forests to soaring mountains. The themed pools provide the ideal break in between all the rides and other attractions as well.
Anaheim Marriott Suites
The Anaheim Marriott Suites is the largest Marriott all-suite, full-service hotel. Popular with both business travelers and Disney visitors, it’s located about a mile from Disneyland resort, and offers an affordable shuttle service as well as an outstanding breakfast buffet that makes it convenient for fueling up for a long day of play. Rooms are extra spacious, with a separate bedroom and living area, and the property also hosts an outdoor pool and a whirlpool for relaxing and soothing sore muscles that are inevitable after all of that walking.
Embassy Suites by Hilton Anaheim-North
The Embassy Suites Anaheim-North sits about six miles from Disneyland and California Adventure, but it offers direct shuttle service along with spacious rooms to return to after a day at the park. As it’s an all-suite hotel, you won’t have to worry about being in cramped quarters as rooms are divided into living and bedroom areas, and also include kitchenettes with microwaves and refrigerators so you’ll be able to keep and reheat those leftovers. The hotel also provides a complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast, and an Evening Reception with free drinks and snacks, as well as a swimming pool for getting re-energized, or relaxing.
At the Disneyland Hotel, you can stay in either the Adventure, Fantasy or Frontier tower. No matter which you choose, you’ll be only steps away from the Downtown Disney District and a short stroll to either Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park. It’s a modern luxury hotel that includes a number of nostalgic touches, while guest rooms are spacious, comfortable, and have just the right number of Mickey accents. While it isn’t themed like the other Disney resort hotels, it pays tribute to the history of Disney through its towers named for the original three lands at the park, with each lobby featuring artwork and memorabilia relating to that land. Kids will love Goof’s Kitchen, where Chef Goofy makes frequent appearances, and adults especially enjoy the prime cuts at Steakhouse 55. Swimming can be enjoyed at the Monorail Pool complex and guests can also take complimentary tours through the hotel’s collection of Disneyland artifacts.
Hotel Indigo Anaheim
Hotel Indigo is a mid-range hotel located near Anaheim GardenWalk, about a 10-minute walk from California Adventure and Disneyland and is one of the best offsite hotels near the parks. There’s also a restaurant, bar, outdoor pool, a spa tub and sauna. The large rooms are where the property really shines, all of which come with mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs, Keurig coffeemakers and iPod docking stations.
Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel
Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel is a beach themed Disneyland Resort property situated just a half-mile from a private entrance to Disney California Adventure Park. It boasts a tropically landscaped sundeck with an outdoor pool and water slide along with a small fitness center and a host of Disney amenities. Kids will appreciate the Disney-character wakeup calls and the impressive Paradise Theater, which includes beach chairs and a sand colored carpet where Disney movies and shows are featured on a TV stashed inside a faux sand castle. When the adults need a break, childcare and children’s activities are available for an extra charge.
Hyatt Regency Orange County
The Hyatt Regency is popular for its unique children’s suites where kids have their very own space for sleeping and playing, and the adults can relax in their own private bedroom. The property hosts two outdoor heated swimming pools and a restaurant, and also offers a shuttle to Disneyland, which is a little over 1.5 miles away.
Howard Johnson Anaheim Hotel and Water Playground
Howard Johnson Anaheim Hotel and Water Playground is one of the most popular options for budget-conscious families, and it sits just a block away from Disneyland and California Adventure. Rooms include lots of convenient features, like bunk beds and microwaves, and kids and parents are sure to appreciate the game rooms and the Castaway Cove with its pools, water slides, water cannons and Jacuzzi. Plus, the hotel offers free parking, free Wi-Fi and kids stay free.
Sheraton Hotel Anaheim
The Sheraton Hotel Anaheim is a castle-themed property that sits across 13 acres, adjacent to Disney’s California Adventure Park, as well as being perfectly located for easy access to Downtown Disney and Disneyland resort. You’ll find the typical Sheraton quality perks, like the especially comfy Sheraton Sweet Sleeper beds, minibars, refrigerators, and coffeemakers with Starbucks coffee. The highlight, however, is the 13 acres of gardens with a koi pond and the outdoor heated swimming pool and spa tub. From here, you can catch those impressive nightly Disneyland fireworks displays.
