Jasper National Park is often overshadowed by its more famous neighbor, Banff National Park, but this less-visited destination in Alberta is a gem, with glistening waterfalls, soaring mountains, surreal blue lakes, and vast glaciers. Columbia Icefield welcomes visitors and provides the opportunity to hike to the toe of Athabasca Glacier, the largest of the six “toes” which once covered the Canadian Rockies. Wildlife is abundant too, with everything from moose, elk, and caribou, to bighorn sheep, mountain goats, wolves, and bears.
