Old House Cay is a series of little private islands less than a 10-minute boat ride from Hilton Head Island, recently featured on a Season 1 episode of Netflix’s new hit show, “The World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals.”
Can you imagine waking up every morning to a panoramic view of the water from your own private island? Actually, you’ll have three of them by booking this rental, for peaceful seclusion and an unforgettable stay just like the trio of traveler hosts did in the popular series. If you watched the show, you saw them arrive by boat and you’ll get there the same way with the transport included in the rate.

The property’s infrastructure is impressive, providing uninterrupted luxurious comforts surrounded by incredible scenery. You’ll have the island all to yourself, basking in what feels like a once-in-a-lifetime kind of stay. Once you arrive, you’ll quickly understand why Travel & Leisure named it one of the top five private islands to visit in the world.

The series of interconnected islands includes one home, totally off-grid using solar power with a generator for backup just in case, an observation tower on Calibogue Sound, and three whole acres to explore.

There’s ample opportunity for enjoying the Lowcountry scenery while swimming, kayaking, boating, and crabbing or fishing right from the dock. Or just relax and watch for the many bird species that inhabit the area, including bald eagles, pelicans, wood storks, sandpipers, and osprey.

From the moment you’re dropped off at the dock you’ll feel as if you’re millions of miles away from the “real world.”

There are three bedrooms, accommodating up to six, all surrounded by marsh grass and serene water views, which can be enjoyed from many vantage points, including the wrap-around porch. As it sits off the west side of Hilton Head, you’ll get both sunrise and sunset views.

The stylish home was designed so there’s plenty of light streaming in through multiple windows and island breezes wafting through almost every room. There’s lots of beachy decor so you’ll easily slip into the laid-back vibe, with the main floor of the 1,800-square-foot home featuring multiple lounging spots and a great room with an open kitchen/living area.
Despite being so secluded and environmentally friendly, you’ll have all the bells and whistles here, including Wi-Fi, TV, and a washer/dryer.

Two of the bedrooms include doors that open onto the porch – depending on the weather you might want to sleep with them open to bring in the fresh salty sea air and enjoy the songs of the birds.

The third bedroom has a double bed and is surrounded by windows for especially breathtaking views. You might have a bit of a battle over that one.

One of the most intriguing structures on your private island is a definite highlight of staying here. A three-story observation tower, strewn with hammocks, is a favorite spot for sundowner cocktails. It sits on a separate island linked by one of the wooden walkways which also leads down to a private beach.
If only time stood still, you might never want to leave this view.
