Raffaldini is one of the vineyards you can stop at.

First, gather up your fellow wine-drinking buddies and figure out which places you want to visit. The Yadkin Wine Shuttle serves all the wineries in and around the Yadkin Valley including Raffaldini Vineyards, Shelton Vineyards, Childress Vineyards, Piccione Vineyards and Slightly Askew Winery, as well as over 30 other wineries. All you have to do is choose which four you want to visit and the wine shuttle folks will help arrange a special private tour just for you. You’ll get to spend about an hour at each winery and about two hours at whichever location you choose to have lunch.

If you already live in the Dobson, East Bend, Elkin, Jonesville, Yadkinville or Winston Salem areas, you can arrange to get picked up right at your residence. Or if you’re coming from farther out of town, make an overnight trip out of it, since the shuttle will also pick up at all local hotels and bed and breakfasts in the area.

Hang out with llamas and alpacas at Ridenour Ranch

But the wine shuttle doesn’t have to be about just wine. If you’re an animal lover, make sure to include Ridenour Ranch or Divine Llama Vineyards in your tour. At Divine Llama Vineyards, you get the best of both worlds and can enjoy a glass of wine while you enjoy the tranquility of the farm and mingle with the animals. While the Ridenour Ranch can give you a little break from all the tasting, when you visit their 98-acre family farm with alpaca, llamas, goats, sheep, ponies and more. You may also find a nice gift for yourself or someone special while you’re there, since they work with local artists who produce garments from their Peruvian alpaca.

Taste the spirits at WRC Distillery

Or if wine isn’t your thing and you fancy yourself more of a beer or spirits connoisseur, they’ve got a stop for that too. In fact, there’s three! First, those who like their cocktails with a little kick will want to make a stop at the WRC Distillery, the state’s first and oldest winery-owned distillery, where you can sample three different types of spirits – White Widow, Killer Bee and Shadow Hawk. Like the names suggest, they’re not for the weak of heart, with each being 80-90 proof, but they all go down smooth.

No need to decide... you can have beer and wine at Skull Camp.

Or schedule a couple brewery stops on your tour, like Skull Camp Brewing, a craft brewery in Elkin, NC, or Westbend Winery and Brewery, the oldest winery in the Yadkin Valley. Not only can you have the best of both worlds, but you can enjoy them surrounded by the beautiful countryside of the Yadkin Valley.
