Finding that special someone can be difficult, but as it turns out, you may have been looking for love in all the wrong places — geographically speaking.
Putting chemistry and pheromones aside, the proximity to your dating prospects can be a key to upping your odds of finding love. So we used the latest marital status data from the U.S. Census Bureau for all 50 states and the District of Columbia to come up with our list of the cities in each state with the best chances of meeting singles.
Based on the population in each metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas, we calculated the percentage of unmarried people for each city in all 50 states. We then took the cities with the highest percentage of single residents and ranked them nationwide.
But we didn’t stop there. We also ranked the top five cities with the highest percentage of single men and single women, as well as other fun facts on first dates. Check out the infographic to find the city in your state with the best odds of meeting someone single.
