The memorial, which is located close to the sight of the attack, features several unique design features that represent the lives that were lost that day. With elegant simplicity, each of the 184 “memorial units” is made up of a cantilevered bench and a lighted pool of flowing water that reflects onto the bench at night. There is also an “age wall” that expands in height as you move around the memorial, representing the span in ages of the Pentagon victims.
