You can fully customize your unicorn dessert with a variety of ice cream flavors, filling and toppings. Go for the “Straight Outta Japan” creation that includes a swirl of matcha and black sesame ice cream, red bean filling and pastel-colored mochi sticking out at the top.

If you prefer the classics they also serve chocolate and vanilla ice cream, while toppings range from crushed Oreos to graham cracker crumbles, matcha powder and strawberry syrup. While you have the option of getting it served in a cup, the soft serve ice cream matches perfectly with the warm, fish-shaped cones that are pressed onto a griddle.

The team at Taiyaki NYC come from Far East cities like Guangzhou, Taiwan and Tokyo and grew up as first and second generation Asian Americans in New York. They wanted to embrace their heritage and identity through their love of travel and food, and after exploring foodie destinations like Japan and Hong Kong the idea of Taiyaki NYC was born.

The ice cream waffles at Taiyaki NYC are made with high-quality ingredients from socially responsible vendors and distributors, with the waffles made fresh on-site and the soft serve ice cream produced in small batches. While the ice cream shop was first established in Chinatown, New York, Taiyaki NYC has since expanded to the Sunshine State. It’s here that you can also grab a colorful drink inside an inflatable unicorn floatie you can take home.

Located in the arts district of Wynwood Miami at the 1-800-Lucky dining hall, it’s hard to resist the temptation to take a photo and show off the Instagram-friendly treat before indulging in the creamy goodness of the popular fish-shaped Japanese waffle ice cream cone.
