Locally inspired American fare is served up in the former gas station in Decatur, and they nail fall dish adaptions. Puff Pastry Pumpkin Pudding Pie combines many textures and traditional autumn notes. A flakey, light puff pastry is dolloped with pumpkin-infused pudding and slightly salty melted caramel, which engulfs the base of the plate. Walnuts give the dish that satisfying crunch, while crisped sage adds an unexpected but amazing twist.

Customers eagerly await the Pumpkin Pie Bars year to year, and needless to say, there’s a lot of pumpkin goodness going on at this shop. Come fall, pumpkin Whoopie pies with a brown sugar cream cheese frosting roll out of the kitchen, along with the best pumpkin cake donuts in the south.

Savannah’s favorite ice cream shop unveils a no-frills pumpkin spice ice cream that is spot on. You know it’s good because retro style Leopold’s ranks as one of the top five ice cream parlors in the entire nation. Located on the Covington square and most notable as the general filming area for the Vampire Diares (which is convenient as Halloween approaches) is a quaint bakery with modern traditional vibes, amazing bread, sandwiches, macarons, cakes, pastries and so on. Don’t freak out, but the PSL (Pumpkin Spice Latte) is better than Starbucks. Gasp. Pair it with a pumpkin muffin, pie, adorable cookie or other seasonally spiced treats, and you’re on track to have the best autumn day ever.
Holey Sweet Donuts, Stockbridge (Nearby Hotels)
Adjoined to a gas station, one may completely miss this gem of a donut shop in Stockbridge, Georgia. What makes the treats here so special, is the genuinely supreme taste of the dough. You won’t want to peel off the edges to quickly get to the sweet jelly center. Fun, regular flavors include Fruity Pebbles, life-changing apple fritters, Red Velvet and Maple Bacon. Rumor has it that Apple Crisp and Pumpkin Cake are the upcoming seasonal flavors, and if they are anything like every other donut at Holey Sweet, we will be busting out the Thanksgiving eating pants a bit early.

Known for quirky, ever-rotating ice cream that all of Atlanta literally raves about, Morellis’ most certainly celebrates the crisp air with appropriate flavors. Pumpkin Caramel Pecan ice cream blends three essential fall flavors, and the balance between the nuts, gooey caramel swirl and satiny pumpkin ice cream is pure bliss.
