Hike Glen Ellis Falls
Hiking Glen Ellis Falls is a relatively easy excursion for most. There are some steps that hikers will have to traverse, but nothing too crazy. Winding through a tunnel, and beautiful surroundings, eventually the short route will lead up to impressively towering cascades. At under half a mile, kids will find it enjoyable, and dogs are allowed to come along on a leash. It is recommended to take on the trail between June and October.
Enjoy a Sleigh Ride at Nestlenook Farm
Nestlenook Farm is something out of a Hallmark movie. Or a Christmas carol. While there are two on-site homes that can be booked, which have a stunning Victorian style, many folks stop by for one of the famed sleigh rides. Snowshoeing and ice-skating are also exciting activities to be experienced in the winter.
Ski Wildcat Mountain
Wildcat Mountain is phenomenal for every type of skier. There is terrain that is challenging enough for the extremely experienced, and wide-open slopes for those just earning their “ski legs”. While not as elaborate as some ski resorts, there is a variety when it comes to dining and lodging. Grab some pizza or something quick at the cafeteria, or sit down for a brew and burger. Hotels and gorgeous lodges are within the area.
Drive Up Mount Washington Auto Road
Or rather, ride. When the snow is falling, a snow coach van with tracks instead of tires elevates guests to the winter wonderland that awaits at the tree line. Outdoor enthusiasts can also book a snowshoeing or cross-country excursion along the route. Nearby there is snow tubing, which is way better than sledding! The kids will love it, and so will adults.

Cross Country Ski
Anywhere there’s downhill skiing, cross country trails are often not too far behind. Being a little bit more chill than flying down steep slopes, cross country skiing is like hiking and skating at the same time. It can be relaxing or a little bit thrilling, but overall can be a fun activity for all ages. Venture to Story Land
Story Land is exactly what you are thinking. The theme park has a whimsical and quirky aesthetic, with nods to classic fairytales being found throughout the park. Enchanting cottages, castles, and strange characters stroll about. Rides such as small coasters, a Ferris wheel and others that aren’t too scary are great for everyone. While you may not find that heart-pounding thrill, there’s a great appreciation to be found by just exploring the intricate design.
Snowshoe at Bear Notch
Snowshoeing is a serene way to explore a wintery environment. However, that doesn’t mean it’s easy! Traversing in large footgear can be a little bit awkward at first, but Bear Notch is here to show you the ropes. Tours will take guests by rivers, and through meadows. And there is even an option to add on a warming hut experience! You’ll get hot chocolate and candy—need we say more?
