Typically, Old Fourth is handcrafting a sustainable sugar cane base vodka (which has the most pleasant finish), a botanically bright gin, and our favorite, a classic, no fuss, masterfully prepared straight bourbon whiskey. Oaky, faintly sweet and with notable but non-intrusive cocoa notes, it’s one of the city’s most beloved drinks.
Normally the Distillery would be hosting tours of their beautiful facility and unique distilling process while hosting exciting events. Yet right now, their goals have changed, to create regulated hand sanitizer for those on the medical frontline. Before Georgia was in lockdown and before cases of COVID 19 skyrocketed, the concoction was handed out to the public. But as the need among policemen, firefighters, nurses, doctors and EMTs increased, Old Fourth made the decision to provide as much sanitizer as possible to first responders.
An outpouring of thanks, love and support is echoing through social media and local news platforms. What once was a crew of a few people working to create smooth spirits is now still a small crew, but one that is helping the brave fight back against the virus. And the Atlanta community couldn’t be more proud.
When the world returns to normal, come enjoy a fine glass of bourbon as a way to say thank you to these whiskey heroes.
