With everything going on in the world right now, we could all use a little more comfort food in our lives. Big C Waffles in Durham is a laid-back restaurant that serves up favorite soul food classics, like waffles and fried chicken. This restaurant began as a favorite food truck and established its first brick and mortar location in October 2017. Try the Thin Mint Waffle or Red Velvet Waffle! It offers pull-up or park weekly specials, such as chicken and waffle combos for $10 and wing Wednesday. From this restaurant, you can text in your order and pick it up from the drive-through. According to social media, the restaurant is closed on Mondays but open Tuesdays through Fridays 11am to 7pm, Saturdays 11am to 8pm, and Sundays 11am to 4pm.
Red Ginger, Asheville
This Asheville restaurant is open for takeout and delivery and serving the community with third-party delivery and to-go pickup and curbside service. It’s open daily from 11:30am to 8:30pm and takes orders by phone and online. You’ll love the authentic Chinese dim sum and Chinese-style tapas at Red Ginger, especially because all dishes feature freshly prepared ingredients that come from local farms. 42nd Street Oyster Bar, Raleigh
To enjoy your favorite southern seafood specialties, 42nd Street Oyster Bar is offering curbside take-out every evening from 4-8pm starting on March 23rd. This restaurant has been a Raleigh tradition since 1931 and started out as a grocery store offering oysters and draft beer. When you buy a dozen empanadas, you can get another dozen for free to give someone who needs them. Avoid crowds by using the app or ordering empanadas online to place your takeout or delivery order. BBQ Nation Indian Grill, High Point

You can still enjoy a meal from Heirloom while staying safe at home. This globally inspired restaurant that is now offering take-and-bake meals for pickup and delivery. For now, you can place your order online. New hours are noon to 8pm daily for pickup and delivery. These take-and-bake meals are great for two, four, six, or eight people and give you a choice of protein, side items, and a soup or salad for each meal. Heirloom is also selling select bottles of its wine for 25 percent off! Linda and Scott Murphy are the owners of the restaurant, and they are passionate about offering North Carolina-sourced farm-to-table dining when you dine in-house.
Cavendish Brewing Company, Gastonia
Breweries are also being hit hard by the COVID-19 crisis, but you scan still support your local craft beer establishments, such as Cavendish Brewing Company. Cavendish is open for online ordering and will bring you pizza and beer curbside. Just call in your order and call again when you’re in the parking lot to have it run out to you. The brewery hopes to offer delivery outside of the Speedy Grubs delivery service area soon as well. It’s open from 11am to 9pm for to-go and curbside orders and has a growler and large pizza special for $30.
Rise Southern Biscuits, Chapel Hill
A comfort food favorite in Chapel Hill is Rise Southern Biscuits, which is open for takeout, curbside pickup, and delivery. Order online or use a delivery app to place your order, and then call the restaurant when you arrive curbside to have it brought out to you. Some of the popular southern biscuit specialties include sweet country blues, fried green tomato, and avocado toast. This is also a prime spot to order biscuits and gravy, chicken boxes, build-your-own sandwiches, and even doughnuts and sweets to satisfy your sweet tooth. Joe’s Touch of Italy, Belmont
This local restaurant has been offering free delivery to its customers and uses its own delivery drivers who are taking extra sanitation measures for everyone’s safety. It is also offering curbside pickup service when you prepay over the phone or online. Popular pizzas are the build-your-own option, deluxe, and white pizza with ricotta, mozzarella, and garlic. In addition to pizza, you can order chicken parmesan, fettuccine alfredo, meatball sandwiches, and more from this Belmont restaurant.
