Depending on the weather, you may want to enjoy the great outdoors at one of Sugar Land’s parks or escape the heat or rain in the Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land. The new attractions, like the museum, park and farmers market, aren’t the other things that make Sugar Land unique. Sugar Land has deep roots, since it was founded as a sugar plantation in the 1800s, which gave way to the city’s current name. It wasn’t until 1959 when Sugar Land became an incorporated town. Spend an afternoon learning all about Sugar Land’s history at the Sugar Land Heritage Museum.

On your way out of town, there is one thing left in Sugar Land that shouldn’t be missed. Visit the Hindu temple known as BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, located in Stafford on the edge of Sugar Land. This gorgeous temple is an architectural marvel, as it was created using 33,000 hand-carved marble and limestone pieces and was assembled by volunteers.
