A Wizard’s Christmas is an annual event that features an immersive dinner and marketplace experience, transporting guests to the magical world of wizards. It’s has already gained immense popularity amongst Harry Potter fans, although the event is not directly affiliated. Celebrating magic, cosplay, and the general affinity for wizard culture, the event features a marketplace with shops inspired by those found in Diagon Alley and a feast in a festively-decorated setting. Get ready to wave those wands, witness simulated acts of sorcery, and down some grub fit for a witch or wizard. This celebration will add an eccentric twist to your normal holiday festivities.
A Wizard’s Christmas takes place at the Ballroom at Bayou Place, located in Houston’s Theatre District. Its grand ballroom and additional event spaces will make a magical venue for A Wizard’s Christmas, which includes a dinner that takes on a more nightclub theme with wicked drinks and dancing. But no worries, young ones are welcome too, and there’s even a kid’s menu.
Attendees are encouraged to go all out with their get-ups—so don’t be shy and throw on those robes and circular black-rimmed glasses, or go all out elvish, as the shindig will also be an ode to all things mythical and magical. However, it is perfectly acceptable to show up in casual attire, but dressing up is way more fun. Performers will be impersonating our favorite characters while doing some seriously cool flame-throwing and magic tricks. And be sure to stop by the marketplace where you’ll find Harry Potter inspired shops selling merchandise, wands, ornaments, and more.
The libations will be as authentic as the decor and atmosphere, and will go perfectly with the four-course meal. The magical cocktails include Butterbeer, Polyjuice Potion, and Unicorn Blood. And if you’ve got special dietary needs, they’ve got you covered with gluten-free and vegan meal options.
