A hotel stay is almost always better when there’s a pool. After a long day of exploring Houston’s exciting attractions, you can relax with a refreshing dip or maybe enjoy an entire day unwinding while hanging out with a good book. These hotel pools, in particular, are some of the coolest you’ll find in Houston.
Located downtown and connected to the convention center, the over-the-top pool at the Marriott Marquis Houston is an obvious standout, built in the shape of the Lone Star State itself. There are actually two pools, the massive lazy river in the shape of Texas and an adjacent infinity pool. There’s also a hot tub and a bar and grill. Other facilities include a 5,000-square-foot spa with couples’ massages and salon services, along with multiple dining options that range from tapas to Mexican fare. The spacious rooms come with 55-inch flat-screen TVs with premium movie channels, coffeemakers and desks with ergonomic chairs. Some suites have bathrooms with deep soaking tubs near floor-to-ceiling windows for fabulous views.
Located west of downtown, this “wooded oasis in the heart of Houston,” as the hotel bills itself, is one of the best spa resorts in Texas. It features three pools, a water slide, a kids’ pool, a poolside grill, walking paths, and tennis courts that are all set within 18 acres of forest. The gym hosts over 100 fitness classes every week, and there’s even a rock-climbing wall too. Multiple eateries are available on-site, while rooms feature Keurig coffeemakers and floor-to-ceiling windows. Suites come with whirlpool tubs and fireplaces.
Four Seasons Houston is a five-star property located downtown, providing convenient access to the convention center and Minute Maid Park. It offers an outstanding range of amenities that might make it hard to leave, including an outdoor deck with a pool, hot tub and fire pit. There’s also a great spa offering everything from hot stone massage to seaweed masks and a fitness center with a wide array of cardio- and weight-training equipment. The popular Bandista speakeasy and the Bayou and Bottle bourbon bar featuring Topgolf Suites are right on-site, as well as Toro Toro – a steakhouse with a Pan-Latin twist. Rooms feature huge windows and luxury bath products. There are two-bedroom residential suite options that come with full kitchens too.
The St. Regis Houston is located between the city’s upscale River Oaks neighborhood and The Galleria. One of Houston’s few five-star hotels, it offers a wide range of luxurious amenities, including a gorgeous outdoor pool surrounded by comfy lounge chairs. There’s also a lavish spa offering holistic body treatments and a fitness center. The on-site Remington Restaurant serves American fare and is popular among both guests and locals, particularly for its steaks. At the bar, enjoy an evening sipping cocktails with live music. Guest rooms feature flat-screen TVs and Bose Wave music systems. Suites have separate living areas and most come with whirlpool tubs and butler services.
The trendy Moran Hotel CITYCENTRE in West Houston offers a relaxing oasis with a self-contained community that features upscale retail, dining and entertainment venues. It boasts a beautiful infinity pool with cabana-style beds that are especially popular after dark, lit up in a purple glow complete with a full bar and bistro-style restaurant keeping the party going. There’s also a 24-hour fitness center and an expansive spa with body and beauty treatments, while rooms come with flat-screen TVs and minibars.
Hotel ZaZa Houston is a fun and funky boutique hotel in the Museum District, which features a European-style pool that sits within a lovely courtyard surrounded by lush landscaping and lounge chairs. It’s the perfect place to soak up the sun during the day before it transforms into the Poolside at ZaZa by night, a popular outdoor bar area. A perfect spot for honeymooners, the luxe spa offers beauty and body treatments as well as a 24-hour fitness center with weights and cardio machines that each have individual TVs. Rooms are stylish yet comfortable and come stocked with private bars, flat-screen TVs, rainfall showers and luxury bath products.
The Westin Houston is right across from the Memorial City Mall directly linked via the skywalk, making it especially popular among shopping enthusiasts, but the highlight here is the rooftop infinity pool that boasts city skyline views as well as a hot tub. There’s also a very well-equipped rooftop fitness center with high-tech cardio and weight-training machines and free weights. For a fee, guests can even borrow New Balance running shoes and fitness clothing delivered to their rooms. There’s a restaurant, lounge, cafe and 24-hour room service, while rooms come with flat-screen TVs and plush bathrobes.
The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston boasts a pool that’s truly out of this world, surrounded by chaise lounges and a fire pit. There’s also a cutting-edge gym offering cycling classes and an extensive spa and salon. As you can order anything to drink or eat from anywhere on the property, that includes your cabin or poolside chair – in fact, you can even have sunscreen delivered. Mastro’s Steakhouse is on-site, offering 16 cuts and chops, while the wine cellar sommelier will help you choose from 30,000 bottles of wine. The luxurious rooms feature Nespresso coffee machines, Technogym wellness racks, fully stocked minibars and marble bathrooms with their own TV screens and soaking tubs.
It’s worth booking Hotel Granduca Houston just for the pool. This Italian-style retreat boasts a beautiful saltwater pool and is tucked among the lush greenery that’s enhanced by ornate Italian-style cabanas. Fine poolside dining is offered at the Il Giardino, and there’s a piano bar as well as a small fitness center, and an on-site jewelry boutique. The rooms and suites all have living rooms and either full kitchens or kitchenettes – some come with balconies too.
