The 12 zip lines can be found on three separate courses, which include the world-famous 1,100-foot zip line at Big Cliff Canyon which will send you flying across a lake at 45 miles per hour.
Before embarking on any of them, you’ll get a short hands-on ground session that will show you how to slow down and stop. Instruction on the various hand signals to watch for and how to use your gloved hand as a brake on the overhead cable are all provided to help calm any nerves.
The most popular tour is the Big Cliff Canyon tour which will bring you flying over Lost Spring Lake in Big Cliff Canyon. The course includes nine zip line flights through the canyons, as well as sky bridges and a unique ending – you’ll rappel from the last platform.
It begins starting low and slow on “bunny zips,” before working your way up to the higher, faster and longer zip lines. As the park site notes, after “zipping at heights of over 130 feet and individual zips as long 1,100 feet, you’ll leave feeling like you can conquer the world.” After your accomplishment, you’ll get a Certificate of Completion too.
After all, these are the longest, highest and fastest zip lines in all of Florida.
If zipping through the dark sounds like fun, you can even fly into the night, traveling with glow sticks to light your way on the Full Moon tours. The 90-minute experience includes five zip lines and two sky bridges, with the highlight an unforgettable flight over the moonlit waters of Gator Lake.
If you prefer staying closer to land, there are other activities here too, including kayaking on the lakes and horseback riding through limestone rock canyons.
Afterward, you’ll find plenty of things to see and do in Ocala. You might explore beautiful Silver Springs State Park, home to America’s largest springs which can be explored from glass-bottom boats. It also offers paddling adventures on the river, hikes, and camping. Alexander Springs in the Ocala National Forest is one of the state’s most popular springs, well worth a visit too. There are miles and miles of biking and hiking trails, many thoroughbred horse farms, and museums to discover too.
