There are a dizzying number of resorts in Cancun – if you’re looking for the best of the best, how do you choose? This list of the most amazing resorts in this popular Mexico destination can help you make the right decision.
Excellence Riviera Cancun, Cancun (Prices & Photos)
This adults-only resort sits directly on a sugar-like sand beach and boasts the famous standard amenities Excellence is known for, including a fabulous spa with beach-side treatment huts and six gorgeous free-form swimming pools. After you walk through the Spanish marble lobby, you’ll enjoy a room with lots of extras like whirlpool tubs, flat-screen TVs, and private patios or balconies, all also feature ornate Italianate furnishings. While you’ll probably want to spend lots of time in the pool or sipping margaritas under a beach-side palapa, there are lots of ways to stay active, including kayaking, volleyball, tennis, archery and even dancing lessons. This adults-only hotel wasn’t made for partying, but it is ideal for those who are looking for tranquility and relaxation. Although it’s an all-inclusive, the quality of the cuisine is surprisingly diverse and high quality, with authentic local dishes and international fare served at six chef-inspired eateries and gourmet buffets. The all-inclusive packages include unlimited beverages (alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks), lounge snacks, and 24-hour in-suite dining as well as daily and nightly activities, live music and other entertainment, a beachfront pool with relaxing cabanas, a spa with ocean views, wellness center and more. Suites include expansive balconies, some that are even swim-out, while bathrooms include huge walk-in showers and Jacuzzi tubs with more amazing views.
Temptation Resort and Spa (Prices & Photos)
As its name belays, this resort was designed for the single adult vacationer (21+) who is looking for a wild getaway and doesn’t mind encountering, or taking part in activities that their parents or children shouldn’t and probably wouldn’t want to see. At the same time, there are strict rules to keep things from getting too out of hand in public areas, and Temptations is one of the classier, party-oriented resorts. It features a full-service spa and salon, five dining options and five bars, along with three outdoor pools, each with a different theme: relaxation, sports and sensual entertainment, and all are topless-friendly.
Entertainment includes risque live shows, all-night clubs, provocative games and contests like the Miss Temptation competition, and even a pajama and lingerie casino. Also included in all-inclusive packages are non-motorized water sports, including windsurfing and hobie cats (and free classes to learn how), kayaking and paddle boarding. An onsite Dive Center also offers dive classes, and while snorkeling equipment isn’t included, it is available for rent for a minimal fee.
The Beloved Hotel, Playa Mujeres (Prices & Photos)
This luxury boutique-style hotel is all-inclusive and doesn’t skimp at all when it comes to pampering and the most minute of details. Located about eight miles north of Cancun on a pearly white sand beach, guests have access to an expansive spa, phenomenal restaurants and bars right onsite, and golf enthusiasts can enjoy teeing off at the adjacent fairways of the Playa Mujeres Golf Club.
