While there are a few designated ACA wine regions in Idaho, Snake River Valley is highly praised for its ideal soil enriched by ancient volcanoes and perfect elevation for grape growing. Caldwell, Boise, Nampa and Twin Falls are towns that drape through the middle of the valley and house many lovely wineries, so lodging closer to those areas makes for a convenient “winecation.”

In fact, Palisades Creek, which branches off from Snake River, is the best dry fly fishing spot in North America. Lodging is rustic and refined at the same time, and being so close to a rushing river is calming and serene. The cuisine is inspired by fresh Western dishes and can be complemented by a variety of wines.
Blue Lakes Inn
Appearing as simply a motel on the outside, this Twin Falls inn has some pretty cool layouts on the inside. Bunk beds and a generally modern theme dominate Blue Lakes Inn, and a nice pool area outside is a great place to spend some time when not indulging in a tasting. Being a great depiction of the funky and modern style of many Idaho hotels, this one’s a great choice.
