Just 20 bucks per person, or 35 per couple , will buy you an evening of music, snacks, dancing, and midnight champagne for toasting. Kids are half price, and little ones under 6 are free. There will be a flashy lights show, and the cup rising will be followed by fireworks that beautifully reflect over the water. Of course, being the stars of the event, the penguins will be there, along with otters, sharks, and other magnificent sea animals. It’s suggested that guests show up in black and white attire, because why wouldn’t you want to coordinate with the special guests? General admission includes an open bar, live music, party favors, a festive champagne toast at midnight, and late night snacks like Monte Cristo sandwiches, chicken and waffles, fried mac and cheese, cookies and brownies. Definitely the most iconic Atlanta celebration is the Peach Drop, and it is approaching its 28th year. The Annual Peach Drop takes place at Underground; you’ll get to witness the 800 pound fruit slowly lower down the giant tower to welcome 2018. I’m the past, up to 150,000 have showed up, so be ready to practice patience when navigating through the traffic. But the fun crowd and amazing display of fireworks truly add to the New Year experience; it is something to do at least once.
