Worlds of Fun is a short drive from the eclectic Crossroads Hotel, so when not at the park, one can traverse the waterfront district rich with shops and restaurants, including an extensive market. Rooms at this top family-friendly hotel in Kansas City defy boring with earthy aesthetics and often geometrical bunk beds or some other unexpected feature. Hotel Phillips Kansas City, a Hilton establishment, is about the same distance from Worlds of Fun as the latter. A smidge less expensive than some other picks, it still has quite a refined appearance, and is within walking distance of top attractions in its district, while one can still fine dine right onsite. Hotel Phillips exudes a historic look and has some of the most romantic rooms in Kansas City for traveling couples.
Silver Heart Inn and Cottages is a less congested 15 minutes away, with a scenic pass over the Missouri River. Dating all the way back to the mid-1800s, the inn has a classic charm and homey ambiance within its four rooms and additional cottages. Fifteen minutes of driving will take you from the Worlds of Fun Gates, and to a dreamy winery and inn, located in Liberty. The historic estate is gorgeously surrounded by lush landscape, and there’s an abundance of artifacts and architecture to explore within. Delve into tastings of complex whites and reds at the winery then retreat to your simplistically charming room at the inn. Laid-back weekends here will contrast your exciting day at the theme park, and a vacation with variety is perfection.
Hotel Indigo Kansas City Downtown is a 14-minute drive away and is in the same vibrant business and culture center as our other list picks so far. The price is budget-friendly, but the hotel itself has an edgy yet polished feel, which would appeal to any family, couple or solo traveler who enjoys something different. Holiday Inn Kansas City Northeast is one of the closest options at less than a mile away, and just a four-minute drive from the magical playland. Sleep Inn and Suites features an indoor waterpark—an excellent addition to also occupy young ones. While basic, it’s a cute setup with a water slide and splash area for toddlers. Set within Liberty and just 11 minutes from the park, the hotel offers big rooms for families, breakfast and just an overall solid place to base on your trip to Worlds of Fun. Bonus—it comes in as one of the cheapest on our list.
Argosy Casino Hotel and Spa may be 10 miles from Worlds of Fun, but that’s nothing when there’s so many perks. From architecture to the grounds, it’s all quite lavish, and the chattering and clinking from the casino, along with the flashing lights can make for a fun night for adults. Enjoy the full-service spa, or a hearty dish at the incredible on-site deli.
Worlds of Fun Village is one mile from the park gates, so guests can just walk. Somewhat of a campground, with RV sites, lovely little cabins and shingle sided cottages await. Facilities include a pool area that operates seasonally and an on-site store with all the goodies and basics you may need. When booking, guests can save money on park entrance, rounding out the village as a phenomenal, relaxed, out of the box lodging option for those centering their vacation around the park.
