The Bahamas are not only just a hop, skip and a jump from Florida, making that flight a whole lot easier with baby in tow, but the islands offer all sorts of fun activities like like swimming, snorkeling, sailing, windsurfing and a myriad of other water sports, along with lots of beautiful beaches for much-needed relaxing. Paradise Island is one of the best picks for new parents, particularly Atlantis. Mom and dad will especially love the Prompt Response Line that will allow them to order absolutely anything they need for baby, including CPR certified babysitters and customized meals for severe food allergies. For those with kids aged three and older, they’ll be able to join Atlantis Kids Adventures and Sea Squirts interactive marine animal program, including feedings as well as 141 acres of water attractions like Splashers, a waterplay area just for little ones.
Disney’s newest resort is an ideal playground for kids and their parents, offering a combination of Aloha spirit with Disney’s legendary fairytale enchantment. Book an appointment at the Laniwai spa for an infant massage class to learn how to use it to help your little one sleep better, and you can also bring babies to the Shaka Shaka Pool Party where they can play with toys and meet Disney characters too. Adults and older kids will enjoy floating along the river pool, snorkeling in a colorful fish-filled lagoon, and soaking in a Jacuzzi with views of the beach. There are cabanas that are great for nursing discreetly and allowing baby to rest and take a break from the sun – in fact, you’ll find just about everything you need, including complimentary high chairs and bottle warmers to check out, as well as strollers and swings for rent. The shop is also fully stocked with items like diapers, wipes, formula and teething rings.
A resort made for families, this property is ideal for family reunions and trips where you want to bring the grandparents, other family members and friends. It features everything from one- to four-bedroom suites with kitchenettes and a vast lawn that toddlers love to roll around on while moms take part in morning yoga classes. They also offer families with babies and toddlers a complimentary “Parent/Toddler Program,” which is available on select dates in May and September, where they can share activities and bond. Babies can dine at the Gerber snack bar and Fisher-Price themed suites are loaded with fantastic toys and there is also a playhouse with My Gym equipment. If you want to enjoy some private time on the property’s own stretch of beach, swim in the gorgeous outdoor pools or even do a little partying at the tequila lounge, the resort can book babysitting services too. Toddlers and older kids will have lots to do too, with a kiddie pool, a kids’ club, and a child-size gym complete with parallel bars, ropes and a springboard.
For a very luxurious beach stay with baby, it’s hard to find better than the exclusive One & Only Maldives at Reethi Rah. Families come with other families, grandparents bring grandchildren, and you’ll sometimes even see multiple generations booking adjoining villas to take over one of a dozen beaches for themselves. A villa host will even sterilize those baby bottles and launder clothing, and an onsite chef can whip up baby food. Toddler and older children will love joining in the fun at the kids’ club, and can consider the entire island their playground, splashing around the family pool, climbing and sliding on sea inflatables and even take painting classes at the artist studio. Of course, the diving and snorkeling here is amazing, with tropical fish, reefs, drop offs, wrecks and incredible visibility.
