Durango is a popular Southern Colorado destination that’s full of charm and an outdoor lover’s paradise. People come here during all four seasons for the hiking, skiing, rafting, breweries, narrow-gauge railroad, and wild west history. Another fun thing to do here is to stay at a unique property that makes you feel right at home. Here are some of the best Airbnbs in Durango to help you do exactly that on your next trip.

This popular Airbnb cottage accommodates six guests and has three bedrooms and one bath. It’s in the heart of Downtown Durango, newly remodeled and close to the Animas River Bike Path. You’ll have the whole house and yard to yourselves and be in a great location for the Durango-Silverton Train, restaurants, shops, hiking, and biking. The host offers guests free Wi-Fi, a washer and dryer, a kitchen, and free street parking. It’s neat and tidy and a great place for families to take a vacation in Durango. From here, it’s also possible to take day trips to Telluride, Mesa Verde, and the San Juan Forest.
Here’s a unique dome home that is fun for up to four guests and has one bedroom and one bathroom. It’s a geodesic dome studio with a full kitchen, small loft, and bathroom with shower. You’ll be a mile from the hot springs and between the resort and Durango. The space also has a dining table and desk. The Hermosa Creek Trailhead is four miles away from here to go on hikes. Both Purgatory Resort and Downtown Durango are 15 minutes away, while the Trimble Hot Springs is just 1.5 miles away. You’ll be just 15 minutes from Downtown Durango here and get a real mountain experience with peace, quiet, and fresh air. The tiny house measures 400 square feet and has a full-size kitchen and bathroom and a queen-size bed. Stay here to be close to hiking, biking, and snowshoeing opportunities and for the awesome mountain views.
A really fun way to stay in the Durango area is to camp in this refurbished school bus in nearby Mancos. It’s on 36 acres of land and only five miles from Mesa Verde. This unique Airbnb has a queen-size bed, kitchenette, and full bath with a shower, toilet, and sink. It does not have running water in the bus, but there are jugs for drinking and rinsing in the sink. Come here for a private and cozy space away from the busyness of life. You’ll love the views of the forest and wildlife from inside the bus and also appreciate the organic coffee, biodegradable soap, composting toilet, heater, and other amenities provided by the host. There are lots of great mountain biking and hiking trails nearby. The land this bus is on is shared by a few households, so you can hike on it but just be respectful of other residents. Cell phone service is available but not always reliable.
For up to four guests, this Durango ranch studio is a great choice. It sits on eight acres of land and has two beds and one bath. The studio space is 460 square feet in size and has an attached kitchen and full bathroom. You’ll enjoy the views of the mountains and creek from here. The space is 200 feet from the main house and overlooks the Hermosa Creek and red cliffs. You’ll be 15 minutes from Downtown Durango when you stay here, as well as five minutes to Trimble Hot Springs and 20 minutes to Purgatory Ski Resort. Guests here can access the outdoor area, walk along the river, sit in lounge chairs along the river, and also use the provided picnic table and hammock.
Here’s another Airbnb that is great for four guests and that has two bedrooms and 1.5 baths. This property is 25 miles north of Durango and across from the Purgatory Resort. It’s a great place to be for easy access to skiing, mountain biking, fishing, and relaxing outdoors. You’ll get 1,300 square feet of living space that includes a loft with futons, full kitchen, king-size bed, and two pull-out couches on the first floor. Pets are welcome here. Your host is a 20-year resident of Durango who can offer plenty of advice about activities to do in the area.
You can also stay in this private room at a ranch with one other guest and use the one bedroom and one private bath here. It’s a quiet oasis in a juniper and piñon forest that is nine miles east of Durango and eight miles north of the airport. Therefore, it’s an ideal place to enjoy the town but also get away for some peace and quiet. The closest neighbor is a half-mile away, so you’ll get lovely views of the mountains, forests, and fields. However, this Airbnb does not welcome children or pets. There is a yellow lab that lives here and loves to make new friends. The room does not have kitchen privileges or laundry access. Horses are welcome to stay here for an extra $25 fee per night in the summer. This is also a very eco-friendly place to stay where you can learn about solar design and renewable energy.
This cute guesthouse is a quirky and fun place to stay for two guests. Couples and solo travelers enjoy calling it their home base while exploring Southwest Colorado. It’s 2.5 miles to Downtown Durango and backs up to a trail network for hiking, biking, and bouldering. Dogs are welcome here. The shack is on the private residential property behind the main residence where the host lives. It measures about 190 square feet in size and is simple but well-appointed with a full kitchen and bath, full bed, coffee and tea, and a private patio.
This apartment is great for up to four guests and has one bed and one bath for rent on Airbnb. Guests can use the large kitchen and dining table, two queen-size beds, and enjoy a great location that’s just seven blocks from Downtown Durango. Pets are not allowed here, but the host is willing to child-proof the house for you if you are traveling with kids. There’s floor heat, a kitchen with a gas stove, and a covered porch here to store skis and bikes or just sip your coffee.
Another great Airbnb option is this apartment that is about 800 square feet in size and is a five-minute drive to downtown Durango. It has a bright kitchen, large bathroom, private entrance, and dining table and chairs in a safe and quiet neighborhood. The trolley is just a quick walk away for public transportation.
To be even closer to all the action, stay in this Airbnb apartment that is just two blocks from Downtown Durango. It’s within easy walking distance to spas, the train station, and art galleries. The spacious apartment is attached to the host’s main house and has a private entrance. There’s a full kitchen and bathroom here, as well as Wi-Fi and cable TV. One dog per guest group is welcome here.
You can have this entire Airbnb condo to yourself in Durango for up to three guests. It has one bedroom and one bath and is in a historic building that was built in 1915. It’s at 10th and Main Street in Downtown Durango and within walking distance to lots of restaurants and the River Trail. The condo has a fully-stocked kitchen, coin laundry room available, balcony, and high-speed Wi-Fi.
This private studio is four blocks from Historic Main Street and has a full bath, kitchen, washer and dryer, and California king-size bed. It’s great for both weekend trips and extended stays. There’s a private entrance and really feels like a home away from home.
