If you’re the type of traveler who loves to discover unique treasures when you visit new places, then add Chamblee to your Georgia trip itinerary.  This Atlanta suburb is home to the largest collection of antiques in the southeast, and it makes for an excellent day trip from the city.

Chamblee is just a short drive from Atlanta and right off the interstate, but it has a small-town charm that will remind you of being in the middle of nowhere. This is an ideal place to journey back to a simpler time and reminisce about those things you remember seeing in your grandparents’ house many years ago.

Most of the shops are clustered along Peachtree Road and Broad Street. A few noteworthy shops to check out include the Antique Factory, Atlanta Vintage Books, Chamblee Antiques and Interiors, Estate Gallery Consignments, and Global Gems & Jewelry.

If you’re visiting the area without a car or just looking to avoid traffic, you can take the MARTA Doraville north train to reach the Chamblee station. You’ll start seeing the antique shops in about three blocks once you start walking. Expect to find lots of vintage signs, clothing, jewelry, household goods, books, and much more!

Since you’ll probably work up an appetite by browsing all the fun shops here, it’s a good thing that there are some great restaurants along the route that you can walk to. Top recommendations are Union Hill Kitchen, Vintage Pizzeria, and Southbound.

December is an especially fun time to visit Chamblee Antique Row because of the holiday open house hosted in town. Treats and refreshments are served, and you can even register to win hundreds of dollars in gift certificates to the local shops here.

But when the weather is hot, make sure to stop by the Frosty Caboose Ice Cream Shoppe. This is an ice cream parlor located in a converted train caboose on the side of the road that offers about 36 flavors of ice cream at all times! Non-dairy and gluten-free products are available if you have dietary restrictions, and the caboose is open late until 10pm for your late-night cravings too.
